The energy landscape is set to change even faster. The enormous task of switching from fossil fuels to fully renewable sources creates major challenges. More decentralised generation also means more volatility and pressure on the grid, a shortage of grid capacity, grid congestion and possible power shortages, with consequences for the availability and the price of electricity. At the same time, new legislation and regulations such as the new Energy Act, the Environment and Planning Act and the ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) framework bring more challenges and costs for energy consumers and producers. In short: more risks, but also more opportunities.
