Redispatch participation

Redispatch is a short-term bid to raise or lower consumption or generation at a specific location and moment. Bids are placed from 15:00 the day before until 45 minutes before delivery, on a trading platform connected to GOPACS, and always through a congestion service provider. A bid inside the congestion area is always matched with an opposite bid outside it, so national balance is unaffected.

The situation

Picture a bid placed the day before, on a trading platform connected to GOPACS and through a congestion service provider. It clears for a specific location and a specific moment, and the platform then delivers it inside the operational limits agreed in advance.

The bid was placed the day before and cleared. Output drops from 178 kW to 78 kW inside 15 minutes, within limits agreed long before the moment arrived.

Every bid has a mirror outside the area

A bid inside the congestion area is always matched with an equally sized opposite bid outside it, so the national balance between supply and demand is unaffected. The grid operator pays the spread between them.
